This year’s Pro/Am Disc Golf World Championships are quickly approaching. This is the third time Charlotte has hosted a PDGA World Championship event. The first was in 1986 with play on three temporary courses. A decade later the club hosted the 1997 World Championships on the permanent Hornet’s Nest course, Kilborne Park, and the Winthrop University Lakefront Gold Course in neighboring Rock Hill, S.C. This year’s event will benefit the American Red Cross, and for the first time anywhere, 14 courses will be used to determine world champions in 25 divisions.
