Hot-Dipped Galvanized and Color Powder Coated Basket Finishes
Hot Dipped Galvanized Baskets
The ultimate all weather protection decade after decade.
» What is Hot Dip Galvanizing?
Hot dip galvanizing is a technically advanced process that protects steel from corrosion by providing a thick metallic zinc envelope that completely covers the steel basket and seals it from the its environment. A high quality zinc coating is fused to the steel surface by an alloying reaction creating an impervious coating. This alloying reaction protects the steel by electrochemical protection. Unlike paint the galvanized coating is alloyed to the surface of the steel during the galvanizing reaction between the zinc and steel when the basket is place in high temperature molten zinc.

» The Corrosion Problem!
Disc golf equipment is exposed year round not only to people throwing discs at the chain but everything Mother Nature throws at it too. A disc golf course and the associated disc golf equipment costs are relatively inexpensive when compared to other park and recreation facility expanses. In order to keep the costs of a disc golf course manageable it is important to avoid the future costs associated with repair and/or replacing corroded unsightly equipment. DGA Powder Coated Baskets
Customize your course and add visibility.
Powder coating is an advanced durable dry plastic powder paint applied onto a metal surface. When spray painting, the powder paint cloud is charged with static electricity that attracts the powder paint to the part being coated. The part is then placed in an industrial oven and baked at high temperature.
Customers are advised however that powder coating is prone to chipping. Disc golf baskets unlike other powder coated steel products like indoor displays or even bicycles, take an incredible amount of abuse from the impact of discs, chains and the elements. The smallest chip or scratch in the powder coating on untreated steel will begin the corrosion process. DGA takes the extra step to galvanize our products prior to powder coating in order to combine the durability of galvanizing with the attractive appearance of powder-coating.
The galvanizing steps we take prior to powder coating prevents rust that would otherwise begin almost immediately on an untreated steel powder coated basket installed in an outdoors facility.
Color Options:
DGA Mach II and Mach V come in two stock color options: Blue Sparkle or Orange Blaze. DGA Disc Pole Holes can be ordered in the custom colors as well.

*Please note DGA does not powder coat poles. The pole takes more abuse then any other part of a Disc Pole Hole. One of the quickest way to destroy powder coating is to bang chain against it which not only leaves a pole that looks horrible, but leaves the remnants of the chipped powder coating around the target to be absorbed into the soil.
