No Frills Basket Versions Hole Preparation

Drill hole with a 12″ auger, 2 feet deep or shovel equivalent. Add 6″ or more of drainage rock. If installing No Frills version, insert pole into hole making sure that the third bolt hole (no through hole on other side of the pole) faces away from the tee when cemented into the ground. Make sure grade marker on pole is even with ground level. Use river rock or gravel to stabilize the pole in the hole and fill the rest of the hole with concrete to ground level. Level pole and let set for 7 days before installing basket and chain assembly hardware.

Deluxe Basket Versions Hole Preparation

Tool Options: 1 and 2 person mechanical augers and posthole diggers.

Tool Options: 1 and 2 person mechanical augers and posthole diggers.

If installing Deluxe version, insert anchor assembly into hole. Make sure the anchor is approx. 2″ above ground level for lock assembly. Use river rock to stabilize the pole in the hole and fill the rest of the hole with concrete to ground level. Use pole for pole hole to level anchor and carefully remove pole from anchor and let sit for seven days.

Proper Anchor Placements

The proper orientation of the anchor when cemented into the ground has the anchor tab pointing back towards the tee. The reason for this is that it will line up the number plate of the Mach III so that it is facing the tee of the hole for easy identification.

Though Mach II’s and V’s do not come standard with Number Plates, they can be added as an option either when purchased or in the future. Though you may chose not to order them when you buy, proper installation of the anchor when installing Mach II’s and V’s will make adding them easy in the future.

Valve Cover Box Installation

If you are looking for an alternative way to cover anchor placements when not in use, you may choose to install valve cover boxes. This visually pleasing way of “hiding” anchor positions must be placed when pouring the anchors, since they are concrete below ground with the anchor assembly.

Drill hole with a 12″ auger, 2 feet deep or shovel equivalent. Add 6″ or more of drainage rock then add anchor (following anchor placement instructions). Please note: Anchor should be slightly off center in the hole, placing the anchor tab closer to the center of the hole. This will allow room to attach lock when ready to install.

Next fill with concrete up to within 10″ of the ground level, add the valve box and then fill to within 4″ of the surface with cement and the top of the valve box. Use the pole (pipe) supplied with the Disc Pole Hole and magnetic level or long carpenter’s level to level the anchor. Carefully remove the pipe and allow to cure for several days before installing the unit. Cover with provided box lid when not in use.
