Choosing Discs - 2004/08/27 16:43 Hi guys, I'm a new player to frisbee golf and am wondering what kind of discs to choose! I've played once with my friends and used a Valkyrie, Starfire, and some other discs. But when I read up on these discs, they seemed to be aimed towards advanced players. What discs would be great for a beginner that would be okay to use if I became better? Any help on what to buy and where to buy them would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!

BTW, I don't know anything about buying frisbee golf discs, so some explanation would be appreciated as well! Thanks!

Re: Choosing Discs - 2004/08/27 20:33 Here is the best adivise I recieved when I started playing. Unfortunately I ignored it and set my game back by a year or more.
Get yourself 5 Rocs.
The same weight.
Go to a field.
Throw the Rocs.
Throw them hyzer.
Throw them anhyzer.
Throw them straight.
Do this until you can throw them any way you want any time you want.
After that get a putter.

Re: Choosing Discs - 2004/08/30 14:44 Something understable for a beginner.

Innova - stingray or a shark - the lighter the better
Discraft - stratus or breeze

Re: Choosing Discs - 2004/08/30 17:38 Hey guys, me again! One of my friends (whose really amazing at frisbee golf and frisbee in general!) suggested that I should get an Aviar Putter, an Eagle, and a Beast! He said they would be great discs to get and that they would be fine for me. I was just wondering if you guys had any experience with these discs and maybe if you could tell how the are? BTW, I might go with his suggestions because he's played with me twice already and I guess he sorta knows how I throw and play! What do you guys think? Thanks!

I'd exchange the Eagle for a Leopard, but otherwise I agree with what he says. The Beast would probably work better for you as a headwind driver, the Leopard would be your all-purpose driver and the Aviar would be your putt/approach disc. If you wanted to get fancy, you could get a midrange too (Roc, Breeze, Buzzz and Shark are all nice), but I found that they flew just like a driver for me when I first started. Once I got better and have started overthrowing most holes shorter than 300' with my drivers I really started using my midrange discs.

Re: Choosing Discs - 2004/08/31 14:59 How about weight? I read an article that said 150 grams... is there a good general weight for the beginner?
