Rhyno vs "The rest" - 2006/09/14 04:32 Considering adding yet another putter to the bag ( lol that would make number 4). Yet this time I am looking into other options. The 3 already in the bag are Soft PRO Rhynos in various stages of wear, and slightly different weights. Any suggestions?

Must be soft putter, I don't like the hard ones I find the soft rubberish plastic sticks to the chains better.
Some putters that under no circumstance will be added to the bag include the Wizard, Arrow, Tank, JuJu, anything by Discwing and prefer not Lightning.

Re:Rhyno vs "The rest" - 2006/11/10 07:18 What hole are you looking to fill with this additional putter? I carry 4 putters myself. 2 Pro D Challengers for putting (one is slightly more broken in than the other) and approaching. 1 Reef for anything that I need to flip and 1 Titanic for driving and approaching in the wind.

The Rhino is a great stable putter and if you have 3 of different stabilities then you probably have the whole range of shots covered. Is there a particular throw that you don't feel comfortable making with the Rhino?

Re:Rhyno vs "The rest" - 2006/11/16 09:05 Hole # 6 at Grand Woods is my problem hole. It's a decently short hole, way to short for me to use a driver on it. So I opt for a midrange ( 174g DX Roc, or a 175g ESP Buzzz) most of the time, however I recently started throwing a putter on it. My problem is I cant seem to turn the Rhyno enough to have it land dry. I don't know if you are familiar with this hole so bear with me if you are.

Hole #6 is aprox a 200-220ft hole, about 110-125 ft off the tee pad it makes a slow left turn. On the left side, and behind the basket is water, and every so often along the shore is a bush or small group of trees. The right side is thick brush and trees. There is a path aprox 10-15ft wide, leading from the path to the pin.

I have tried many times to fire it up the path, and 90% of the time I don't make it. Which leaves going out over the water with one of two shots: A anhyzer out over the water, or a sidearm out over the water. The sidearm worked ok until I started developing more power, and now I find myself over-powering that particular hole. So it's left me with the anhyzer, I need a putter or a mid-range that will grab the anhyzer and hold onto it, without stalling to early and falling back to the left.

Re:Rhyno vs "The rest" - 2006/11/21 08:05 The Rhyno is definitely too stable for that shot, you'd have to throw it too hard to get it to flip (assuming it's not really, really old). A standard put and approach aviar might be the ticket, it holds a great anhyzer line and goes surprisingly far.

You might want to try a slower, less stable mid like a stratus, comet, breeze or glide. You don't have to throw any of those very hard to maintain an anhyzer line.

From my bag I would probably choose a beat Squall, or if it had to hold the anhyzer line the entire way my X Comet. Possibly the Reef if the turn is pretty sharp.

If you try any of those I'd be curious as to the results!

Where abouts is Ground Woods, I'll have to add it to my list of courses I'd like to visit.

Re:Rhyno vs "The rest" - 2006/11/26 10:16 I'll give the Breeze a try I think I have one floating around somewhere in one of my bags.

As for where Grand Woods is, it's Lansing Mich, on the border of Lansing and Grand Ledge. There should be a link to it in the course directory.
