Lost my X-clones - 2006/04/13 18:11 Well, the golfing season has started and it hasnt taken me long to lose my 3+ year old X-clones. the one i use was pretty floppy from all the trees i hit over the years and the other one was pretty much new. one i lost in a creek and the other in some leaves when it was getting dark. *sigh*. anyway, in a rash decision i bought a bunch of new discs. They dont make X-clones anymore but i managed to find a few so i bought them up. For sidearm, the x-clone is the best disc in my opinion. I throw sidearm pretty much exclusivly except for putts and close shots. Anyway, the discs i choose to purchase, in addition to the 5 more X-clones i could find, were the Roc DX (ive needed a mid range for some time now), the Flick Elite-Z, the Whippet DX, and the Wraith DX (heck with all the hype, i figure id try it for 7 bucks). I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on how to toss these discs sidearm (except the Roc as i expect that will be backhand friendly) and/or recommend addition purchases. Also, were my plastic choices a mistake? I like discs overstable, so would the newer plastics have been better? With my old x-clone i beat it up quite a bit which made it less stable (i think) and i liked that cause i could actually get a left hook (RHSA). I hope im happy with the way these discs get beat up. Thanks for reading!

Re:Lost my X-clones - 2006/04/20 04:27 I agree that X clones are good discs and it is a shame that they don't make them anymore. In reference to some of your comments here is some info. When thrown Backhand an overstable disc will turn left and an understable disc will turn right at speed and often carry that right but eventually will fade left when it loses speed. Since you throw forehand or sidearm these characteristics would be reversed. So.... an overstable disc will turn right and a understable disc will turn left when thrown sidearm. Also, as a disc gets beat up it becomes more understable. Lighter weights tend to be more understable as well. This would explain why your worn in x clone would turn left because you are throwing it side arm and it is understable. The Wraith is extremely overstable. The whippet is also extremely overstable. Both of these discs will dive right if you flick them. The flick is the most overstable disc i have evr thrown. It has extreme speed and needs to be thrown almost half overhand half sidearm. I literally have to put that much left on it to make it s curve to the target. If you have a monster arm these discs will go straight. I prefer sidewinder's and valkyrie's. Hope this info helps.

Re:Lost my X-clones - 2006/04/23 23:07 Im pretty sure xclones are not discontinued, but they probably dont make them often, they are still avalible in many online vendors.

Re:Lost my X-clones - 2006/05/02 17:06 Well ive tried all the discs ive choosen to purchase. Ive found the flick to be too overstable, but the Wraith to be really really nice. I can get it farther than i can an X-clone, but still need to get used to it to get equaled accuracy. Also i really like the Roc. Next i think i will try some understable discs. And as far as X-clones still being made, I guess that post #3 is right as they are fairly available on the internet, even though initally i didnt see many they are out there. Heres to a good long season! cheers.
