How cold is too cold? - 2005/12/07 16:39How cold is too cold to play? If my discs wouldn't get so stiff in the cold I would play at 5 degrees or so. Is there any difference in flight patterns when it is cold? Any tips on cold weather playing would be great.

Re:How cold is too cold? - 2005/12/08 16:04discs get more overstable in colder conditions, they also get more overstable in higher elevation. also im not sure about this one but they eiter get more or less stable in higher humidity. Play with the stiff discs just take the added stability (and cold muscles) into consideration or thow less stable softer plastic (discraft x, innova dx, innova pro, millineum standard ect). I played a round here (colorado) with snow on the ground at 7 degrees yesterday. However the coldest I played in was last year, it was cold and windy, with windchill it was -8 or so. The winds were about 15-20 mph, didnt score my lowest round that day (about 6 or 7 strokes above my average)
If there is the wet stuff just make sure to bring a towel or two to wipe discs dry. Keep your throwing hand warm, tuck it in your shirt, wear a glove between shots, do what you have to. Anticipate which disc you will be throwing for your next shot and keep in in your shirt to warm it up for the next shot. Keep any moisture out of your bag. Pick up your disc with your non throwing hand, remember keep throwing hand warm.

Re:How cold is too cold? - 2005/12/09 01:22its not as bad as it sounds, i was a fresmen living in the dorms, so there was a course right outside my door, (3rd tee is literarlly about 100 ft away) I only played one round (9 holes). threw a 6 over, a year ago, I would average par. yesterday in the snow i threw par which was exciting for the weather. lol, decided it might just be a better idea to practice on really cold days up shots and putting mostly, its easy to loose drivers in the snow.

Re:How cold is too cold? - 2005/12/21 13:43I have been playing in temps. now from around 15 or so and have found that it isn't as bad as I had thought. I am using handwarmers in my shirt pockets for hands and discs. I also find that using the larger "body warmers" (disposable type), both found at Wal-Mart for around 2 bucks, are great for tossing down in your bag to keep your discs pliable. I don't know if there is a temp. too low here in TN. to keep me from playing now.

Re:How cold is too cold? - 2006/02/08 16:14My friends and I have played nightgolf with the temp around 20 degrees. And that was pretty damn cold.
