Re:Favorite disc and Why??? - 2005/04/20 15:24 For a new player I always suggest a Cobra or Stingray for a driver. For a midrange get a Roc or a Buzz. Putter would be an Aviar.

Beginners should get lighter weight drivers. 165 to 169 gm.

Midrange 170 to 172.

Putters 174 to 175.

Stick with the DX plastic. It's cheaper and easier to throw.

Just my two cents. I've taken many first timers to the course and this is what I ususally give them. Hope this helps.

Happy Disc Golfing.

Re:Favorite disc and Why??? - 2005/04/20 16:30 Favorite disc is a DX ROC. Dead straight. You know where they are gonna go EVERY time. They hold up into the wind. They get even better when they beat up. They beat up slowly. They are the most controllable and versitile disc ever made.

How can you possibly make a better disc than a roc?

Re:Favorite disc and Why??? - 2005/04/21 15:32 I just picked up a Millenium Aurora MS and I absolutely love it! It is much like a Roc but with a different bead. I use this disc for my approaches and putts but it can be thrown pretty far if you want to use it as a driver. I have been rattlin the chains a lot with this disc.

Re:Favorite disc and Why??? - 2005/04/22 17:08 Here's a great article about disc selection:

http://www.discgolfreview.com/resources/articles/choosingadisc.shtml

Personally, if I were to go back and start over knowing what I know now, I'd start with an Innova Leopard, a Gateway Element and whatever putter felt the best to me. That suggestion is just a specific version of what he says in that article. The only difference is I consider the Element to be a neutral midrange and the Juju to be a putter. Any of the discs you pick out of what he suggests will work well.

I think my current favorite discs are the Pro Starfire, the QJLS, the E Element and the Wizard. The Pro Starfire is so fast and has so much glide and has the stability I really like in a long range driver. The QJLS is so durable, straight and bridges the gap between midrange and really long range well. It's perfect for longer wooded holes. The E Element is really easy to throw, super straight and very durable and there isn't much you can't do with a Wizard up to 250' (longer if you're better than me).
