Control on Disc - 2004/07/11 16:45 I have been Frolfing for about 2 years now and i still don't have control on when I throw my disc, I have great power but i jsut cannot control it, can anyone give me any suggestions??!!

It may be hard to tell what's wrong without knowing specifically what the problems are, but if you go to www.discgolfreview.com you'll find a ton of information about technique repair...specifially if you go to this section:

I find just reading about every problem will help you understand how to throw better. That way if you have an errant throw, you'll have a better chance of diagnosing what you did wrong on the spot.

Re: Control on Disc - 2004/09/07 13:23 i'm still figuring my game out, too. it seems like every time i'm on the course i discover something new that works, or some new problem that just surfaced...

in terms of drives: if there's 3 things that have really improved my consistency it's these:

1) aiming myself properly. the way i step really affects this. also, the direction my shoulders are aimed as a result of my step up.

2) the height of my arm during the throw. just above my belly button for hyzers. about nipple height for anhyzers. i always keep my arm close to my body as it comes across.

the relationships between step up and my arm height are like this:

shoulders aimed so my back is a little to the target combined with a nipple high release = anhyzer

shoulders aimed so my chest is a little to the target combined with belly button high release = hyzer

shoulders aimed so my back is a little to the target combined with belly button high release = flat and straight

i find there's sort of a clash in the aiming and arm height for the flat and straight release that really ends up locking you into your toss... in a good way.

and on to #3

3) keep your back straight on release. this helps drive momentum forward. when my back isn't straight my disc usually goes too high.

getting really stoned helps all this fuse together nicely, too.
