I'm new here - 2004/03/24 11:59I am new to this site and the sport !
I read an article in my local newspaper and I found that there is a disc golf course 1/2 hour away from me so I looked disc golf up on the net and immediately fell in love with what I saw.
Unfortunately the newspaper article was published late in the year so I spent this past winter buying disc golf stuff and I will try Disc Golf for the first time at the end of may when I go on vacation. Does anyone have any tips to help me with my game ??

Re: I'm new here - 2004/03/30 23:48Putting is really important especially for a beginner. You dont need a big arm to an awesome putter. Putt!!!

Re: I'm new here - 2004/03/31 11:26Jolly is right. Great consistant putting with inconsistant driving will lead to better scores than good driving with inconsistant putting. Of coarse, to be a competitive player, you need to be consistant all around. Puting is the biggest part of the game for me though. Being able to rip 400' + drives doesn't mean anything if I am not consistant with my putting. Thankfully I am right now.

Re: I'm new here - 2004/04/05 06:14Don't feel intimidated when you see anyone who throws better then you. The more you practice, the better you will get and the more comfortable you will feel on the course. By the way, there will always be someone better then you, there will always be someone worse then you. What matters, is being the best you can be. Do some research about beginner discs instead of getting something you see someone else playing with. The disc as well as the weight can make a big difference in your game. To start, all you really need is good all around disc like a Shark, and maybe a putter. Then, you can graduate to a Driver, an approach disc, and a putter. The most important thing to remember is to have FUN!
