Is it an Ace?? - 2005/12/21 13:58I had what I consider to be an Ace but there was debate about it in my group. Hole 3 at Barfield is a 320 wide open straight shot with road to the left. I teed off and watched it fly as straight and flat as I had ever seen. We heard metal but no disc was seen. The rest of my party teed and soon we were at the basket and I found my disc. It was lodged in one of the squares on the basket part of the goal. The majority of the disc was outside of the basket but it was firmly planted. Is that an Ace? If not what is the rule about that?

Re:Is it an Ace?? - 2005/12/21 18:55According to the pdga: 803.12 B. Disc Entrapment Devices: In order to hole out, the thrower must release the disc and it must come to rest supported by the chains or within one of the entrapment sections. This includes a disc wedged into or hanging from the lower entrapment section but excludes a disc resting on top of, or hanging outside of, the upper entrapment section. The disc must also remain within the chains or entrapment sections until removed.
Congratulations, its an ace!

Re:Is it an Ace?? - 2005/12/22 16:52I looked all through that and guess I missed that part of the rule. I don't believe anyone else from my group was going to admit it if they did see it. They are still arguing the point even after I SHOWED it to them right there in black and white. The only person from my group that isn't arguing is the only other person in the group that has had an ACE. Thank you again Patrick you have been most helpful.

Re:Is it an Ace?? - 2005/12/23 06:58No problem, I was looking through a disc golf termanology glossary somewhere and saw a term for a putt that does that. The only place iver ever seen it happen is Ken Caryl here in colorado, i believe its one of the first 5 disc golf courses in the US, and most their baskets are ancient. Somebody got a blowfly stuck like that and was arguing with their group, it was intertaining. Im amazed that a driver could even get cought like that. Ive nailed the front of the basket before, with proline discs, and never had one stick. Oh well.
