Okay, so just to clear this up: I'm a rookie... big time. This may not seem like such a big deal to some of you, but it was the most amazing shot I have EVER had in my life.
So my drive sucks... my approach and putting game are pretty good, but I'll never be competitive if I can't regularly clear 300' on my drive (which I can not, but I'm getting closer)
So I'm playing a few days ago, and my previous record on this course is +5. The past few days had been in the +7 range so needless to say I was less than enthused with my game.
I started the round just "en fuego" (for me) and spent the better part of the first 11 holes at -1. Bogied 12 out of the woods, and went back to E for the next 5 holes.
So now I staring down 18, sitting on E (5 better than my previous record), and it's the longest hole on the course. Something like 384'. Well, I can't throw that far on the drive so I'm thinking, pound it, lay it up, and even for a +/- 0 overall for the round, which would be outstanding for me personally.
So my drive is about 290' (estimate) which is pretty decent for me. I've got about 90' left. I pull out my Shark, and loft this shot up and to the right of the hole. It felt really great coming out of my hand, and it's looking like it's going to land right next to the... *chink*... it lands in the basket.
I about peed my pants. I put my hands straight up in the air, fell to my knees and just stared.
Funny thing about this course is there is a walking path that goes all the way around it. This couple was walking by and saw the shot and the guy says to me "You couldn't do that again..." and I responded by saying "I KNOW! Thats why I'm so damn excited!"
Gorgeous... -1. A SIX STROKE beating of my previous record.
