WOW ~ That's a good one : It was the summer of 1977, August, The World Frisbee Disc Championships @ The Rose Bowl as a spectator. Within the first hour of that day, I had an immediate realization, that I didn't want to be up there in the stands. I wanted to be down on that field 'as one of them' ~ You want to talk about 'frisbee fever' ! Four years later 1981, I would attend (my first of 5) the 1981 World Frisbee Championships in The Rose Bowl as an invitee. While jamming with the likes of Erwin & Jens Velasquez, Zimmerman, another true Jewell to the sport with the first name of John, Rick Castiglia, Bill Wright, and many others. I remember at one point in that day looking up at the stands and saying to myself, Well here you are, as one of them , while a huge supportive crowd of 50,000+ cheered the days events. WOW, what an era., what an experience that was. *Designed my First (natural object) disc golf course within a week after that in Canoga Park, CA *Learned to nail delay a blue Super Pro within a month, one of the coolest things back then. *First actual competition was in 1979 @ Tropical Jam

*1982 Played in my first National disc golf final 9 @ UC Irvine with the great Scott Zimmerman. *Zim could whip the field with one driver, one putter, & his towel ! *1981-1985 Participated in Special Olympics Clinics & Demos @ Aloha Stadium. A few of us were throwing (Midnite Flyers) into the seats down the right field line, WOW - what fun !
*Appeared on National television's The Jefferson's Go To Hawaii 1980 ~ Directed & acted in a hilarious Freestyle scene with Sherman Hemsley aka George Jefferson.
*Selected to do the initial demos for the 'Future Flight Flying Disc'. Made by Polaris Mfg. Co. of Canoga Park Calif. back in the late 1970's.
*Fulfilled a dream by designing, building & maintaining a true 'labor of love', La Plata Pines Disc Golf Course in the back yard * Durango Colorado. *Established in 1996 - Celebrating its 10th Year Anniversary Games - July 2006
30th Career Ace (05/1/07') (GlenWood Springs Open : 'The Island Hole' - 1st Shot) *1992 - Coming out of a short retirement, hit a 70 yard intentional backhand 'called' skip ace in Sylmar, CA for a nice $850 Ace pool win.
2007 : Celebrating 30 years in the 50th year Anniversary of Whamo-FRISBEE, including all Frisbee Disc Games ; except for GUTS...I'll will always enjoy that event as a spectator only ! Back in the day, all freestylers depended on the use of our fingers, so why lose'em ? HA

*1999 Founded the Columbine High School Memorial Foundation - Promoting disc golf to youth in Colorado (In memory of Nicholas Kunselman)
*1999 - 2003 - Tournament Director - La Plata Pines Pro-Am Invitational - A Columbine High School Memorial FUNdraiser 'for the cause'. Over $10,000 raised & put to good use throughout the sport; school programs, discatchers, golf discs & other donations made.
*Funded (2) new courses in the Grand Junction, CO area, as well as Innova Champion Discatchers/Disc donations to several schools. Combined with disc golf demos & clinics, created successful programs still running strong today.
*Introduced Disc Golf Clinics to Durango, CO through Dept. of Parks & Recreation. I thoroughly enjoy giving instruction to anyone that has any passion for wanting to learn the fine art of throwing a golf disc. As a result of doing this for many years, referred to by many as : 'Coachie' & enjoy being labeled as such. Coach/Trainer to Kristara Lee PDGA # 21699 (Since 2003) "who in my mind" will be the next Julianna Korver type player !
